Due to ongoing weather conditions, City Hall and all non-emergency offices will open at 12:30 p.m., on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Emergency services will remain fully operational and continue to respond as needed.
Residents are advised to stay warm and exercise caution while traveling.

City Services Update – Winter Weather Operations
City “Winter Warrior” teams are on duty across Leon Valley:
- Leon Valley Fire Department has added extra staffing to support operations
- Public Works has applied de-icing agents to roadways and will reapply at 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, and again early Sunday morning
- Public Works Water Division has fully weatherized all systems and remains on standby
- Leon Valley Police Department is prepared to close roadways if conditions warrant
- Barricades have been pre-deployed for potential street closures
- Leon Valley Public Library will close at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24
- Raymond Rimkus Park restrooms will be closed Saturday through Tuesday morning
- Irrigation systems have been turned off at pocket parks, the Community Garden, and Forest Oaks Pool
- CPS Energy and SAWS report no service issues at this time
Residents are encouraged to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary, especially due to icy road conditions.

Freezing temperatures can cause pipes to burst. Please take these precautions:
- Let hot and cold water run in a thin stream
- Open cabinet doors under sinks
- Cover exterior pipes and faucets
- Disconnect garden hoses
- Turn off sprinkler systems
- Bring pets and plants indoors
- Check on elderly neighbors and anyone needing assistance
Indoor Heating Safety
- Use space heaters safely and keep them away from flammable materials
- Never use ovens or grills to heat your home
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Road Safety
Cold weather can create icy conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses:
- Reduce speed
- Increase following distance
- Avoid sudden braking or sharp turns
- Follow posted warnings and detours
- Give crews space to work
