Traffic Alert: New Traffic Flow at John Marshall High School Due to Construction

Date: August 4, 2025
Upcoming Traffic Changes and Safety Reminders for the Start of the School Year

The City of Leon Valley would like to inform residents of upcoming traffic changes and share important safety reminders related to ongoing construction at John Marshall High School (Northside ISD).

Following a recent coordination meeting with Northside ISD Police and Marshall High School Administrators, we were notified that the school’s bus lane will be closed to all traffic due to ongoing construction.

Updated Traffic Plan

Beginning Monday, August 11, 2025 (first day of school):

  • School Buses:

Will enter the campus from Huebner Road, proceed through the school, and exit back to Huebner.

  • Personal Vehicles / All Other Traffic:

Must use Eckhert Road to enter the school, pass in front of the building, and exit back onto Eckhert.

Note: Heavier traffic is expected between 3:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., especially around school dismissal.

These changes will impact traffic patterns in nearby neighborhoods, including Monte Robles and surrounding areas. Residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time during school pick-up and drop-off hours.

Safety Reminders for All Drivers

As we approach the first day of school, please keep the following in mind:

  • Watch for students walking near sidewalks and crosswalks.
  • Never pass a school bus when its stop sign is extended or red lights are flashing.
  • Observe posted speed limits in school zones—enforcement will be active.
  • Stay focused and avoid distractions while driving near the school or through local neighborhoods.

Thank you for your attention and continued support in helping keep Leon Valley safe for all students, families, and community members.
