Notice of Intent to Raise Water & Sewer Rates

The Leon Valley Water and Sewer Utility provides service to about two-thirds of Leon Valley households and businesses, while the rest are served by SAWS. Much of the City’s water and sewer infrastructure has aged, leading to costly repairs, service disruptions, and risks to public health and safety.

To address these challenges, the City developed a Water & Sewer Capital Improvements Plan to prioritize replacements and repairs. To fund these improvements, City Council approved a phased water and sewer rate increase, beginning October 2025 and continuing over five years, with a total increase of 26% by 2030. The tiered rate structure will also be adjusted to align with SAWS. Customers on SAWS water will only be affected by the new sewer rates.

For questions about the new rates, please contact Leon Valley Public Works at (210) 681-1232 and ask for Public Works Director Melinda Moritz or Assistant Director David Dimaline.
