4th of July Festival

The Leon Valley July 4th Parade and Festival is scheduled

for Thursday, July 4, 2019. 

Please note some IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION about the event:

 Raymond Rimkus Park will be fenced off with only three (3) entrances – one on Poss Road at Evers, one at Poss Road at Peachtree and the final one at Forest Meadows.
 NO BAGS ALLOWED. The City has modified its security policy by limiting the size and style of bags allowed into the park. Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to, the 
following: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, and luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or 
any bag larger than the permissible size. *Medically necessary and diaper bags are allowed after proper inspection at the entry gate. See website for details.
  • Leon Valley Historical Society’s Pioneer Firecracker 5K Run - Beginning at 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on July 4th, , there will be barricades and road closures at Poss Road at Leon Trace Apartments, Clover Bend at Grass Valley, Cherryleaf at Grass Valley, Peach Tree at Grass Valley, Grass Valley and Strawflower, Strawflower and Grass Valley, Huebner and Evers, Evers at Canterfield, Grass Valley, Tealeaf, Sulky, Larksong, Poss Road, Forest Meadow, Sunlight, and before Forest Pine, Sunview at Evening Sun and Sunlight, Forest Meadow at Sunlight and Evening Sun, Setting Sun at Evening Sun and Sunlight. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask that you take an alternate route, or better yet - hang out in the front yard and cheer these runners on!
  • Parade/Celebration - Beginning at 5 a.m. on July 4, 2019, Evers Road will be closed until 1:00 p.m. Streets on Poss will be closed from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. on July 4th and will include: Evers Road, Cherryleaf, and Peachtree. Huebner Road will remain open at all times. Poss will be closed at the park all day.
 4th of July Celebration - There will be limited access to Raymond Rimkus Park on Tuesday, July 2nd and Wednesday, July 3rd in preparation for the 4th of July activities. The park will be closed from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on July 4th.
 There will be ALL STAR SHUTTLES running from 4:45 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. on July 4th. Please watch for information on shuttle locations or call us at the number below.
 Between 9:40 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. there will be a fireworks display which will result in LOUD BANGS & BOOMS for approximately 15-20 minutes. Please take care of family 
members, friends, and pets that may be frightened by the noise and bright lights.
 Raymond Rimkus Park will resume regular operations at noon on Friday, July 5th, to allow clean-up and equipment removal.
