Community Canopy Program

Community Canopy Program

In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation we are offering a limited number of free trees to homeowners through the Community Canopy program. Community trees are a great way to manage storm water runoff, preventing urban pollutants and sediment from running into streams and drinking water sources. Planting these trees in the right place can also help improve air quality, sequester carbon, lower your utility bills and make neighborhoods more enjoyable. Please support the El Verde By 2025 goal of planting 10,000 trees by 2025.

In addition to the Community Canopy Program, the City of Leon Valley will be giving away trees at the October 26th Arbor Day event, to be held at the Leon Valley Library, 6425 Evers Road, from 9 am until the trees are gone. The City also partners with CPS Energy to give away trees at the annual Earthwise Living Day event, held the first Saturday in March each year at the Leon Valley Community Center, 6427 Evers Road. For more information about any of these programs, please contact Leon Valley Public Works at (210) 681-1232.
