Via Routes Changes



In an ongoing effort to enhance bus service and reliability, VIA is implementing the following service changes effective June 6, 2016:

Route 301 (Red) – This route will be modified to a new VIVA Centro route to provide west/east connections between Centro Plaza and the Robert Thompson Transit Center. This route will continue to travel east on Houston Street to Bowie Street, with service adjusted to return westbound on Travis Street.

The new VIVA Centro route will provide service to the following locations:

Centro Plaza    Alamodome 
UTSA Downtown Campus   Market Square
Tobin Center   River Walk
The Alamo         Shops at Rivercenter
Convention Center   Sunset Station
St. Paul Square    

Routes 305 (Blue), 333 (E) and 7 (Sightseer) – These three route will be combined into and served by a new VIVA Culture route to provide more direct connections between Southtown/King William, Downtown, The Pearl, and Broadway Reach cultural attractions. Schedules will be adjust to provide frequency of service and extended hours along some stops.

The new VIVA Culture route will provide service to the following locations:

McNay Art Museum    The DoSeum 
The Witte Museum   Pearl 
San Antonio Botanical Garden    San Antonio Museum of Art 
Brackenridge Park          The Alamo 
San Antonio Zoo    Tobin Center 
Hemisfair Park    Southtown 
Blue Star Complex     

Other Service Changes/Schedule Adjustments – Routes: 9, 10, 14, 22, 43, 44, 70, 79, 640

  • Route 42 will be part of the new VIVA Missions service extension to provide service to the following Missions:
    • The Alamo
    • Mission Concepción
    • Mission San José
    • Mission San Juan
    • Espada (upon completion of road construction project)
    • Route 614 – This route will be modified by extending service to serve Pearsall Park on Old Pearsall Road.
    • Re-Pair Route 70 with Route 22 – Route 70 will interline with Route 22 through Downtown.
