As an effort to support the Leon Valley Tree initiative Council created a Tree Advisory Board.
The Tree Advisory Board (TAB) is a ten (10) member Board and they were joined by two (2) foresters and certified arborist from the Texas Forest Service. The first two (2) priorities of the Board are the: (1) Leon Valley Tree Challenge an initiative to plant 10,000 trees by the year 2020 and (2) to initiate a Tree Survey which would inventory all trees in the City and identify Heritage trees (trees with trunks which are 18-inches or more in diameter). The Board is also very concerned about oak wilt which is attacking certain areas of the city and they have decided to begin an informational campaign.
